Are Today's Elders The Same As The Elders of the Last Century?
by minimus ini was 24 when i was first appointed as an elder.
i very much respected the old timers, the elders that were basically good guys, family men and who tried to be good examples, although they knew they were far from perfect.
i haven't been to a meeting in about a decade and i wonder if the elders of today are that much different than those of yesteryear.

Elders: Born-Ins vs Recruits
by breakfast of champions inthis is an unofficial survey.. was curious as to the number of currently serving elders who were born-in and/or raised as jw versus those who were "recruited"( i.e, not born in or raised as jw.).
for instance, right now in the hall i am assigned to:.
2 elders were born-in and/or raised as jws.. 5 were not (recruited as adults).

Anthony Morris - AP's in August, 900%, increase, yet decrease in BS's
by berrygerry inthe only video that i've found of tomo is 39:00 minutes long - the ending is missing.. various posts mentioned highlights of the tremendous witness in august, with a 900% increase in ap's, as well as some other magnificent accomplishment that i cannot locate.. then i painfully listened to the video to verify, and at about 38:00, tomo bemoans the downward trend in bible studies.. the best august of all-time, yet downward trend.. looks like the toilet bowl is swirling.. .

The hour requirement is so low, it's no wonder the average JW aux. pioneers in the summer. the lack of studies is pretty easy to explain.
the ministry now consists of tract campaigns. there's like 3 a year now at the very least. there's carts which is just handing out lit and taking the person's information if they want more. JWs are encouraged to play videos to people. again, no real teaching. and now a JW can send a text message as an RV. again, no teaching.
gee i wonder why there's no bible studies.

I haven't heard the zone visit talk, but he used that line in one of his convention talks this year. He then proceeded to tell us nothing about stories involving him or his family.

I'm not really sure. It's hard to tell. As far as the 'public face' of the GB, it is without a doubt Morris. As for who runs the show in their meetings, I don't know. It could be any of them, really.
One thing I've found, and maybe someone can back me up, but it seems the guys who appeared to be softies were really the biggest assholes. Like, Barber seemed like a goofy old man and Barr talked like your perfect imaginary grandpa, but from what I've been told they were the real hardliners. On the other hand I've been told Jaracz was really a more moderate person despite coming off as a jerk.
Someone mentioned Splane earlier, and yeah, I've heard plenty of morning worships from him. The dude's a dick.
